Half
a century of the Drak Theatre
The
Drak (Dragon) Theatre was founded in Hradec Králové in 1958. Over
the years, it has been the guest of almost 40 countries in all
parts of the world with a repertoire devised for all children
between the ages of two and one hundred and fifty. Fate is equally
merciless to both the stage props and the puppets as well as to
the performances which have a limited life, based here and now.
That is why, after the final performance, the puppets and the
stage props are stored in the attic of Drak and in the depository
of museums for a well earned rest. It is therefore both just and
right to once more display their silent splendour through exhibitions.
Puppets and stage props displayed in Chrudim demonstrate the most
popular ones from the half of a century of the Theatre. They are
arranged in such a way that you may view the "Dragon"
heroes "eye-to-eye". !!!

Hana Cigánová - a portrait of the artist
Prof.
Anna (Hana) Cigánová (born in Martin in 1944) is a well-known,
internationally recognized personality of the Slovak theatre.
She is famous for the broad range of expression, a perfect synthesis
of costumed actor and puppet, arising from the proper creative
basis. She is a distinctive artistic personality, moving into
other branches of the arts (she also draws, paints, and makes
small sculptures, ceramics and textiles). She has cooperated in
more than a hundred puppet performances, designed costumes for
shows and TV fairy tales; she has exhibited in Slovakia and other
countries. After 1990, she has cooperated in setting up the Chair
of Puppetry at the Theatre Faculty in Bratislava, and now she
is in charge of the Art studio of Sculpture.

New Additions to the Museum collections
One
of the principle functions of the Museum is to gather new exhibits,
to care for them, to place them in their historic and thematic
context, and to display them to the public. The exhibition shows
a selection of new additions to the collections since 2000, when
a range of interesting exhibits have been obtained (purchase or
gift). And as the given theme is far from being exhausted, we
have decided to continue and to introduce other subjects which
have enriched our collections.
